about

I remember a professor in seminary saying "If someone tells you that they understand the Trinity, they're wrong." This crazy concept is perhaps the most difficult to make sense of in our faith. No analogy can quite reflect it correctly, and no rationale can quite grasp God's nature. This is one of the true mysteries of Christian theology.
As usual, music offers us a helpful venue in which we can reflect on such paradoxes. That's why I love this song.
Holy Holy Holy is, of course, a Christian classic from the 19th century. This is one of the hymns we knew we couldn't mess with the melody too much. Reginald Heber's famous lyrics emphasize the nature of our triune God, while echoing the epic refrain from Revelation 4.
Finally, major props to Paul Price (of Good Field) for coming up with the riff that marks all the turnarounds in our version.
