about

This is probably one of my favorite songs that the Gentle Wolves have ever appropriated from Seth Woods. It is a G.K. Chesterton poem that Seth set to music. The dark mood accentuate the powerful lyrics:

"The prince and priest and thrall, Bind all our lives together, Smite us and save us all!"

For those who were confused like me, "thrall" = slave, peasant, laborer.
I have always thought that this could be used as a prayer of confession in a eucharistic rite.

This, like other Gentle Wolves tracks in the past, this features the breathy crooning of my wife Molly Kentopp. The chiming of me and Mitch Holt's guitars, and Kyle's dancing piano are grounded by Dan's creative drumming. Overall, I think this track came together well, though the parts were written and recorded over two years.
